About Jeff Garfield, PLC
Before I began practicing law, I stood on both sides of it. I wrote laws and I broke laws. I’ve sued and have been sued. I’ve been married twice and divorced once. And yes, there was a big custody battle. I won’t get into my “wild child” years, but let’s just say I’ve been there and done that. It’s not too often that you find a lawyer that has had the experiences that I have had.
In business, I ran a family owned bar and restaurant. My construction company, Garfield Developments was highly successful until the Great Recession of 2008, where I was forced to file for bankruptcy. Another business, Garfield Coatings, is a bathtub reglazing LLC that I have expanded to cover the state of Michigan and I have formed a extra-provincial corporation in Ontario, and a corporation in Jalisco Mexico. I have bought and sold numerous properties and I am currently a landlord of a couple of rental houses.
In our community, I was elected to the Otsego Lake Township Board and then elected as Otsego County Commissioner. I even had the opportunity to run for State Representative, but unfortunately I lost to a very good candidate.
Through all this, I have become very familiar with family law, criminal law, contract law, real estate law, zoning law, construction law, corporate law, landlord/tenant law, and business transactions of the Uniform Commercial Code.
